Introduction

Greetings to all. This is the first edition of the monthly Okura E-Newsletter. This e-newsletter serves to inform all of our contacts regarding company events, product launches, product changes & various important information. We hope that this e-newsletter will provide useful information for all of you. Thank you for your attention.

Auspack 2003

Kockums Bulk Systems Pty Ltd will be displaying one of our Okura robots in AUSPACK 2003, an exhibition for machinery, materials and technology relating to industrial packaging. Our palletizing robot, the A1600, will be present at the exhibition for demonstration purposes. For customers who have been unable to get an actual look at our robots, and would like to see a demonstration of our robot's capabilities, be sure to be present at the exhibition in the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from September 30th to October 3rd.

Material Handling China 2003

Okura products were represented at Material Handling China 2003, an exhibition for technology relating to material handling. The exhibition was held at Guang Da Exhibition Centre, in Shanghai, from August 19th to August 22nd. 4 models of the belcon mini conveyor were present at the show for interested parties to have a detailed look at the quality of our product.

Projects

OFAS Singapore has recently completed a material handling system for a major pharmaceutical plant in Singapore. The state-of-the-art system provided by Okura has increased production by 100% & lowered the number of personnel required. The system utilized stainless steel equipment, which is required to meet the stringent industry regulations. Utilizing stainless steel equipment has the benefit of being rust-proof, resulting in a longer life-span.

3 robot palletizing systems were also installed in a major food & beverages plant in Malaysia in August. The systems provide great reliability & help to replace labour requirements. The system's reliability has to be assured so as to deter any loss in distribution & packing efficiency.

OFAS Singapore is currently working on material handling systems in a major courier company's branches in India & The Philippines. These two projects require high reliability to prevent any lapse in the distribution process. The project in India is a pioneering step for Okura, since this is the first project in that country.

Product Modification - Mini PerfectVeyor

The "Mini Perfe" is a space-saving ultra-high-speed vertical conveyor designed to handle ever-faster packaging processes. Light-weight cargo like cased products & bags are loaded onto a horizontal carrying shelf, and transferred softly at high speed. This revolutionary model makes it easy to build a 3-dimensional conveyor line.

Change

The amount of weight that can be handled by this product has been increased, without any compromise of the speed & the reliability of the product. This change is highlighted on page 3 of the brochure attached in the table, under the heading for "Cargo MAX" & "Cargo MIN". For more details, please refer to the attached files. Company Appreciation Dinner 2003

OFAS Singapore & Malaysia held its Annual Appreciation Dinner on the 21st of June 2003 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.The guest of honour who attended was Mr Jimmy T Okura (President & CEO of Okura Service Co Ltd, Executive Vice President of Okura Yusoki Ltd, and Director of OFAS). The event was a big success, attended by all the staff members of OFAS Singapore & Malaysia, including spouses & children.

Long Service Awards

2 outstanding staff members were presented with the Long Service Award for their 10 long years of service in OFAS Singapore & Malaysia, respectively. The 2 staff had performed excellently throughout their years in the sales & accounts/administration departments respectively.

Staff Appointments

OFAS Singapore has recruited 2 new sales members, a marketing executive & an engineer in the recent months. OFAS Malaysia has also added to its staff strength by 1 new sales member. It is our aim that the new staff will harmonize with the companies as soon as possible, and propel the companies to greater heights.
