A palletizing test using the Okura A1600 Robot Palletizer was conducted in the Regional Centre of Excellence for Robot Palletizer for a potential client. The test was conducted for the potential client to evaluate the A1600's capabilities to palletize slippery polypropane bags accurately at high speed onto a pallet.

The test also allowed the potential client to assess the stability & stacking pattern of a full pallet. The potential client was fully satisfied with the performance & capability of the Okura A1600 Robot Palletizer, and an order for the A1600 Robot Palletizer was received subsequently.

The centralised location of the Regional Centre of Excellence for Robot Palletizer in Singapore is convenient for potential customers in the high-growth markets in South-East Asia & Oceania to conduct palletizing testings. 3 courses have been organised in October & November 2004 in the Okura Corporate University - Singapore campus for OFAS engineers since its establishment in September 2004. The first 2 courses were conducted from the 27th to 30th of September 2004. Mr Yoshiyuki Kusano, the Okura Corporate University Principal, Professor Mitsutomi Suizu & lecturer Keiji Takimoto were in Singapore to launch & conduct 2 courses held consecutively over a week - Installation Work Management & Basic Electrical Control. OFAS Singapore & Malaysia managers were also present to share their knowledge & experience. This reaffirms OFAS's emphasis on knowledge & experience sharing, a core competency of OFAS's business strategy.

The third course was held on the 27th of October, focusing on the Okura Robot Palletizer. This course was conducted by OFAS Malaysia's Assistant General Manager, utilizing his 13 years of experience with OFAS. The course covered all aspects of the robot palletizer, including installation, programme writing, configuration, troubleshooting & maintenance.

Scheduled courses in 2005 are for the main purpose of upgrading the skills & knowledge of Okura engineers. Subsequently, specific applicable courses will be extended to our clients' engineers & other interested parties.
